Being Selfish with God?

I love reading my Bible. Each morning and evening I read it. I love studying it and reading one thing one day and not really getting a "golden nugget" and then reading another day and getting many "golden nuggets". God is so good.

So at church yesterday it was so great, mainly because I was so tired I really didn't want to go, but I notice on those days, that is when God really talks to me.

Our Service talked about scripture and what is does and I have to share it because it really touched my heart and was so encouraging to hear.

ALL scriptrue is given by God and is profitable. (The big word is all, not just some.)

1.) Scripture teaches us what we need to know.
*Before we can deal with anybody else we need to deal with ourselves first.
(I personally relate that to being a mother, how much we desire sweet, obedient children, then we yell, get irriated and such, we must deal with ourselves before God before we can work on the hearts of our children.)
*Scripture teaches us about who God is so we can worship Him in a way that is pleasing to Him.

2.) Scripture reproves us when we sin.
*Scripture exposes sin, it exposes us to the things we ought not to do.
*One big question to ask is how we respond when someone reproves me?
*God knows that sin separates us from Him - He wants better for us.

3.) Scripture corrects us out of sin.
*Scripture shows us how to fix our sin.
*LOVE = fixing of sins
*We must bear one another's burdens (sin) and hold one another accountable.
(We must get over our pride of not sharing the truth when things aren't well. We cannot be approachable or share the love of Christ if all is perfect in our world. We must be transparent and allow others in so that we may pray and love each other the way Christ loved.)

4.) Scripture trains us to live righteously.
*Teaches us who we need to be.
*We need to live differently, to be holy as God is holy.
*Jesus was constantly teaching and training.
(As a mom that is what we do, constantly, teaching and training so that our children will grow up the way the Lord would have them. We can't make them be a certain way, but we can definitely teach and train and plant many seeds that God will grow in His time.)

So in all this here are some tips:
1.) Read your Bible!
(doesn't matter how, just pick it up and read)
2.) Schedule a time that works best and stick to it!
3.) Memorize scripture!
(this is one I realized I really needed to work on - thank you Lord)

So what is the role of scripture in your life?
Are you a Sunday morning only believer?
Is your Bible a book that collects dust?

Let us all get hooked on the one book that can truly change us from the inside out and make us truly different in this world we live in.

Have a blessed Monday
